“Battlestar Galactica” is one of the highest rating science fiction TV dramas and has a large audience worldwide. Sky Interactive worked with Universal Studios and its UK-based partner, NBC Universal, to create a dedicated content area and offer fans an interesting experience. The interactive area could be accessed at all times via the red button.

This version of “Battlestar Galactica” was different from the robotic forms viewers would usually expect from the show. It offered an edgy re-imaging of the 1978 television series with more humanised characters and great effects. As a result, the enhanced TV application was designed to provide the viewer with essential background information to the show.

The main attraction of the interactive area was exclusive footage, featuring interviews with the producer and the set designer – a real bonus for any avid “Battlestar Galactica” fan. The footage was shot in the US especially for the application. The footage also featured:
- Character profiles
- Information about the Cylon War
- The show's history and overview
Viewers could also go online to enter a competition to win two signed scripts and a named director’s chair.

The application provided viewers with more unique content for the show, which otherwise wouldn’t have been seen on the channel. It was extremely popular, with one in five viewers pressing the red button.
