"Threshold" is a science fiction drama about a team of experts, led by Dr. Molly Caffrey, who are assembled when the US Navy discovers an extraterrestrial craft has landed in the mid-Atlantic ocean. This application offers viewers an insight into what might happen if the same scenario was to occur in the UK.

The brief was to support the premiere of “Threshold” on Sky One with immersive content that would be relevant to the programme’s themes and ultimately increase viewer loyalty and boost ratings.

A 15-minute mini-documentary was produced called “Alien Invasion: Are We Ready?” The documentary explored how the UK government might react to a scenario similar to that played out in “Threshold.” The documentary looked at the subject of alien invasion from various different viewpoints and included interviews with a number of experts.
Sky made the documentary available via the red button to viewers during the week leading up to the first episode. It was also available for download from the dedicated “Threshold” web site at skyone.com and to viewers of Sky One on mobile phones.
The documentary provided viewers with an interesting taster of what the show was all about as well as offering a more immersive and meaningful viewing experience.

“Alien Invasion: Are We Ready?” was a hit, with over 20 per cent of “Threshold” viewers watching the documentary.
