Sky Interactive is the wholly-owned subsidiary of Sky responsible for:
Interactivity on the Sky platform started with Open...., which launched in 1999; a four-way consortium between Matsushita, HSBC, BT and Sky. In June 2000, Sky developed a WTVML browser compatible with internet technologies and capable of picture-in-picture services. In May 2001, Sky acquired its partners’ shareholdings in Open…. and waptv and formed Sky Interactive. Combining this new venture with sky.com and Sky Text enabled the closer integration of interactive services and the viewing experience.
