ENHANCED TELEVISION

Enhanced television (eTV) extends programmes, enabling viewers to interact and engage with the show at a deeper and more involved level than just “sit back” watching. eTV also extends the allotted transmission time to “out of hours”, so viewers can still enjoy enhanced applications after the show has finished.

WORK WITH US

Our eTV team at Sky Interactive provides interactive enhancements to programmes on all Sky channels, including Sky One, Sky Mix, Sky Movies, Sky Travel, Sky News and Sky Sports.

We aim to integrate interactivity into the editorial content of the show wherever possible by establishing an early relationship with programme producers. The team focuses its efforts on researching engaging material that provides relevant, entertaining and informative content.

Sky Interactive can provide all the imagination, tools and applications for producers to help them enhance their show through interactivity. A whole range of interactive applications are possible with eTV such as:

  • Votes
  • Competitions
  • Personality tests
  • SMS games
  • Episode and character guides
  • News
  • Exclusive video footage
  • Viewer messaging
  • Synchronised quiz shows

SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Enhanced TV sponsorship enables advertisers to get closer to Sky programming. Enhanced sponsorships can vary from simply branding an enhancement to a completely integrated concept that sits behind a programme.

An example of an enhancement is Eidos – Championship Manager 5's sponsorship of Sky One's “The Match”. The Eidos brand was not only sponsor of the broadcast programme but also the interactive enhancement that sat behind the red button.

“Sky’s interactive TV services feel like they’re being created by people who a) understand the programmes they’re enhancing, b) are trying hard to figure out what might actually please the audience, and c) enjoy thinking up interactive angles.”

Scott Gronmark, iTVT Issue 5.56 part 2
